Lido 14 Racing

Fleet 78 was started in 1997 by a group of charter members who saw the need to bring a one design boat to our great racing venue, Fidalgo Bay. The Lido 14 was chosen due to its affordability, longevity, and appeal to a wide skill range of sailboat racers. The Lido 14 is currently still the only one design boat actively raced in Anacortes. Nationally, the fleet is primarily on the West Coast with nearby fleets in Seattle, Portland, and Eugene. 2007 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Lido 14 National Championships (an almost unheard of accomplishment in the world of sailing). The Lido 14 has ranked consistently in the top ten for all classes of one design sailboats for participation at its national championships.

Fleet 78 has a superior racing venue in Fidalgo Bay. For our 2012 season, we will have a dedicated hoist for small boats near AYC and the Lido docks.  We enjoy a full season of racing, primarily on Sunday afternoons, as well as some out of town travel regattas that are well attended by other Lido 14 Fleets. Sunday’s racing focuses on doing several starts with short windward/leeward courses that promote tight fleet racing with a lot of action.

The Lido 14 is a great boat for all sailors from the beginner to the expert racer with room and competition for ALL levels. For additional information check out the Lido 14 website:lido14.com.  If you are interested in trying one design sailboat racing, please feel free to contact us.

2012 LIDO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Anacortes Yacht Club and Lido 14 Fleet 78 are hosting the 2012 Lido National Regatta on Fidalgo Bay July 23-27. This will be the 55 Annual Lido Nationals. If you have never raced in a National Regatta, this is the best chance right in your own back yard. The Lido 14 has been in production since 1958 with over 6, 300 boats sold. We expect somewhere between 30 and 40 boats. W.D. Schock, the builder in Corona, CA, is loaning the Southern California fleets a 10 boat trailer to ensure boats get north to Anacortes. July 23 will be the Junior Lido Nationals and July 27th is set aside for the Women's Nationals. On July 22, all the boats compete in fleet racing which by days end determines which boats will sail over the next two days in the Gold and Sliver Flights. We will post more information on this site, but if you have questions in the meantime, contact Steve Orsini, sailingorsini@gmail.com
